Crab Feed Season
It’s Crab Feed Season!
Locals know exactly what I’m talking about. If you aren't from the Northern California area, you are in for a treat!
Crab feeds are a cultural part of our region (like fish frys in Wisconsin or Raclette & Fondue dinners in Switzerland).
What is a Crab Feed?
A crab feed is an event featuring all-you-can-eat crab buffet, usually held to support a local school or organization. Expect overflowing buckets of cooked crab, along with crab crackers, salad, clam chowder, bread, and drinks. Sometimes there is music as well as a live or silent auction to help support the cause.
They are hosted by schools, parks, fire houses, and other organizations. The last crab feed I attended was the West Valley High School Crab Feed.
Get To A Crab Feed
There are two crab feeds coming up in Shasta County:
- One Safe Place Crab Feed on Feb 1st

- If your near Paradise or Chico head to the Paradise Rotary Annual Crab feed Feb 1st
Community, Crab and Supporitng a great cause. What can be better?
A good crab feed has a fun environment and is a great place to connect with people.Growing up in Sonoma I always enjoyed the annual crab feed for the High School boosters club. We would see half the town at that one!
Of course, you can have your own crab feed by getting fresh crab at R&R. But it's more fun to go to a local crab feed, plus you can feel good about supporting a charity or organization.
Keep your eyes out and get to one before the season is over!
